Obituary of Joan A Bond
Joan A. Bond, 75, of Fort Wayne, passed away on Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at Lutheran Hospital. She worked for 33 years at Wildwood Racquet Club and was team tennis coordinator. In 1956 she was crowned as the very first Miss Huntington. She volunteered tirelessly for causes fighting breast cancer, and served on the Vera Bradley Classic steering committee. Surviving are her sons, Jeff Bond of Deltona, Florida and David Bond of Noblesville, Indiana; ½ brother, Jim Smith; and four grandchildren. Proceeding her in death was her husband, William Bond in 2005; daughter, Jennifer Bond in 1975; and sisters, Phyllis Selig and Shirley Manning. A funeral service was Tuesday, February 5, 2013 at 1:00 PM at Greenlawn Funeral Home, 6750 Covington Road, Fort Wayne, IN 46804 with visitation one hour prior. Visitation was also held on Monday, February 4, 2013 from 3:00 to 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Burial in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
