Joan Mae Sheets

Joan Mae Sheets, 88 passed away peacefully on Friday, October 14, 2022. Born September 22, 1934 in South Bend, Indiana to the late Russell and Bernice (Deal) Allen. She was a teachers aid for Fort Wayne Community Schools for over 20 years. Joan was a devoted member to St. Therese Catholic Church. She enjoyed going to the Fort Wayne Parks & Rec Community Center "The Center" for activities such as crafting, making and selling tea cozies and aprons. Joan also had a passion for crocheting, flower arranging, making blankets, and sewing. She was an excellent seamstress. Joan will be dearly missed. She is survived by her daughters, Teresa (Charles) Todd, Elizabeth (Ty) Little, and Rebecca (Daniel) Rusher; sons, William (Lisa), Gregory (Joyce), and Daniel (Anne) Sheets; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and one on the way; and siblings, Barbara Curran, Lois Noble, and Sue Marshall. She was also preceded in passing by her husband, William Sheets; great-granddaughter, Layla Presley; and brother, Thomas Allen. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, October 25, 2022 at St. Therese Catholic Church, 2304 Lower Huntington Road, Fort Wayne, Indiana 46819 with visitation one hour prior. Visitation will also be held from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Monday, October 24, 2022 at Elzey-Patterson-Rodak Home for Funerals, 6810 Old Trail Road, Fort Wayne, Indiana 46809. Burial to follow the service at Catholic Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to St. Therese Catholic Church.
