John Edward Frye

John Edward Frye, 66, passed away at home surrounded by loved ones. He was born April 11, 1959 in Fort Wayne, Indiana, a son of the late Trevor Senior and Anna Mae Frye. He was a 1978 Bishop Dwenger graduate and an active parishioner of Saint Charles Catholic Church. John enjoyed spending his free time doing Schutzhund dog training. He loved the Colts, craft beer, fishing and more than anything being a grandfather. To him was a stranger was a friend he never meet. He was known as Papaw with candy in his pockets. John is survived by his partner, Rose Davis; daughters, Tiffani Restrepo, Carrie (Jason) Frye, Micki (Dave) Davis; grandchildren, Caitlin Nelson, Lillian Jones, Ivan Leadbetter, Claire Frye, Eugene Leadbetter, Ozzy Gramman, Bella Gramman, Mabel Gramman and Edwin Gramman; the upcoming great-grandchildren, Edward and Evalynn; and his sister, Mary Catherine (Gary) Fee. He will forever be missed and loved. John was also preceded in death by his brother, Trevor Junior; sister, Donna Carr; and cousin, Lisa Frye. Visitation will be held from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Thursday, August 21, 2025 at Advantage Funeral & Cremation- Highland Park, 2403 East Wallen Road Fort Wayne, Indiana 46825. A celebration of life will be held from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm on August 30, 2025 at the Willows, 1601 West Gump Road Huntertown, Indiana 46748.
