John William Heilman, 79, of Fort Wayne, passed away on Sunday, November 1, 2020 at Parkview Hospital Randallia. Born January 19, 1941 in Fort Wayne, he was a son of the late John Sr. and Elsie (Gump) Heilman. A graduate of South Side High School, he retired from BF Goodrich after 36 ½ years. An avid Notre Dame fan, John loved the silver Corvette he owned. He rescued five dogs and three cats from the shelter and was especially fond of Coco and Sarah. He lived for his children and wife and found great joy in providing and caring for them. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Marilyn (Mapes) Heilman of Fort Wayne; children, Constance (Steve) Newman, John (Patricia) Heilman, Catherine (Jerry) Warner, Kerri (Adrian) Green, and Jason Vachon; grandchildren, Raymond Horn, Logan Horn, Davon Green, Isiah Green, Brock Warner, Brandy Warner, Steven Newman, Jayden Vachon, Haley Vachon, and James Vachon; siblings, Constance (Gary) McClintock and James (Ruth) Heilman. He was preceded in death by his son, Kevin Heilman; daughter, Jennifer Marie Heilman; and granddaughter, Nyla Green. Funeral Service is 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 10, 2020 at Advantage-Highland Park, 2403 East Wallen Road, Fort Wayne, with calling two hours prior. Pastor Wendel Golden officiating.
