He graduated from Rossford High School and earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Toledo.
John was a United States Army veteran and served from 1959-1960.
He was a marketing specialist for General Electric and retired after 35 years of dedicated service.
John’s memberships included Messiah Lutheran Church, Masonic Lodge, Maumee Chapter 175 F&AM and was past president of the Scottish Rite.
He was an avid golfer and enjoyed the outdoors.
He is survived by his sons, Timothy John (Jo Lynn) Howard of Austin, TX; Sean Arthur Howard of Fort Wayne, IN; grandchildren, Amanda Howard and Daniel Howard, both of Austin, TX.
John was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Donna Howard, June 7, 2021, and a brother, Douglas Howard.
Funeral service will be 11:30 a.m. Saturday, March 7, 2026, at D.O. McComb and Sons Maplewood Park Funeral Home, 4017 Maplecrest Road, Fort Wayne, IN, with visitation two hours prior.
Committal and burial will be at Concordia Cemetery Gardens 5300 Lake Ave. Fort Wayne, IN.
