John Keller, age 80, passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side on Wednesday, June 12, 2024. Born on October 29, 1943, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, John was the son of Edwin and Thelma Keller. Other than his time serving in the U.S. Army, John spent his entire life in Woodburn, Indiana.
John is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Cyndi, and his four children: Greg (Alicia), Kathi (Kyle) Guderian, Doug, and Kara and his brother Bob. He was a proud grandfather to twelve grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, with another great-grandchild due in August.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Nancy Stewart and brother Eddie Keller.
A dedicated truck driver throughout his career, John handled long hauls, short hauls, and everything in between. His passion for all things nautical was well-known; he loved boating, big ships, and anything related to water. Lake Erie was his favorite fishing spot, as he often referred to local lakes as mere mud puddles.
John's quick wit and humorous one-liners were a cherished part of every conversation. He was also a devoted dog lover, finding great joy in the companionship of his pit bull, Chop. In honor of John's love for dogs, memorial donations can be made to the Fort Wayne Pit Bull Coalition at fwpbc.org/donate (https://www.fwpbc.org/donate).
Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, June 30th from 1-4pm at the Woodburn Community Center (22651 Main St, Woodburn, IN 46797).
John will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.
