JOHN L. METZ, 93, of Fort Wayne, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 24, 2011, 9:45 a.m., at Visiting Nurse & Hospice Home. Born June 28, 1918, he was the son of the late James Edward and Catherine (Hartman) Metz. He was a U.S. Army Veteran. He retired in 1981 from NIPSCO, as a Manager, after 40 years of service. He was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church, F.&A.M. Bluffton Lodge, The Scottish Rite and Mizpah Shrine. He was an avid gardener. Surviving are his wife, Lorene C. Metz of Fort Wayne; sons, John Edward (Ruth Elaine) Metz of Fort Wayne and Christopher H. (Nancy) Biggs of Fort Worth, Texas; daughter, Holly (Jeff) Kaufman of Clarksville, Md.; two granddaughters, Tracey and Nikki; seven stepgrandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Memorial service will be at a later date. Visitation is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Klaehn, Fahl & Melton Funeral Home, Winchester Road Chapel, 6424 Winchester Road, Fort Wayne.
