

Johnny Lee Lawrence was born on May 5, 1956, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, to the late Willie and Lula V. Billingsley Lawrence and passed from this life on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at the age of 69.
Johnny was a graduate of Wayne High School Class of 1974 and continued his education at IU - Bloomington in 1975. On July 7, 1979, he married the love of his life, his high school sweetheart, Rhonda A. Rowell. This union lasted for 46 years.
For many years Johnny worked as a union Brick Mason with the Local #2 until his health forced him to retire. He spent most of his working career at Hot Crews, Inc.
Johnny's favorite hobby was fishing. He loved being out on the lake in his boat with "his boys." He also enjoyed spending time with his family, listening to music and Bible reading. We have greatly missed him during our Sunday family dinners.
Johnny confessed his love for Christ and became a member of the Good Hope Baptist. He later united with Pilgrim Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Sam Shade, Jr. Over the years he became a member of the Light of the World Christian Church pastored by Rev. Cornelius Hill. There he served as a Deacon and a Sunday School Teacher.
Johnny leaves to cherish many memories to his loving and devoted wife, Rhonda A. Lawrence; daughter, Keisha Logan; sons, Joshua Lawrence, Jermaine (Natoshia) Goree and Marcus Hill; a host of grandchildren; sisters, Kathleen "Bobbi" (Robert) Boughton, Lydia Ann Lawrence and Rosemary Baker; brothers, Terry (Mary) Lawrence and Kenneth (Anita) Lawrence, Sr., a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was also preceded in death by his grandparents, Calvin and Lydia Billingsley; siblings, Chester Adams and Vivian Lawrence; father and mother-in law, TJ and Willie H. Rowell; a son-in-law, Eric Alphonso Logan and other relatives.
A Funeral Service Celebrating Johnny's life is 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 7, 2025, at Pilgrim Baptist Church, 1331 Gay Street (46803), with calling one hour before service. Burial will follow in Covington Memorial Gardens.
