Judith Ann Bay

Judith Ann Bay, 79, of Fort Wayne passed away on Sunday, April 18, 2021 at Lutheran Hospital. She was born July 5, 1941 in Hartford City to the late Lawrence & Fern (Sills) Gilland. She was a graduate of Hartford City High School and retired from Local Laborer’s Union #213 in 1997. Judie enjoyed sewing, quilting, crafting, golfing, traveling and spending time at the lakes with her husband of 48 years Douglas H. Bay who preceded her in death on July 13, 2019. Surviving are several nieces and nephews whom she considered her own children and was always looking after them. She was a safe haven and a solid rock for all of them. She is also survived by stepchildren, Pam James of Huntertown, IN, Patti Easterday of Largo, FL, James Bay of Ashley, IN, and Jeffrey Bay of Florida; and 10 step grandchildren whom she loved as if her own and would affectionately be known by them as Shopping Grandma. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her brothers, Jack L. Gilland and Charles E. Gilland. Funeral Service will be held at 1:00pm on Sunday, April 25, 2021 at Klaehn, Fahl & Melton Funeral Home, 6424 Winchester Road, Fort Wayne, Indiana 46819 with visitation one hour prior. Entombment will be at Covington Memorial Gardens. Contributions in Judith’s memory may be made to Cancer Services of NE Indiana or Donor’s Choice.
