Judith Kay Thompson, 80, passed away surrounded by family on March 23, 2025. Born to Ruth (Martin) and Hargis Thomas on December 9, 1944, in Derby, Indiana, and was called Judy Kay by her parents and large extended family. She moved to Fort Wayne with her family at age 4 and stayed a lifelong resident. She was an endless river of love and a fierce lioness for family and friends. Her greatest joy in life was her large family and she spoke of this often.
Judy married David "Dave" Thompson on July 27, 1962, and he was the love of her life. They were married 54 years until his death. Together they raised three daughters: Lisa, Melissa and Marcy, and made a home where the door was always open for family and friends. They thoroughly enjoyed hosting holidays and family get togethers more than just about anything.
Judy attended Fort Wayne Central High School and was a member of the class of 1962. Judy was highly intelligent and loved learning. She would have made a great nurse or even a politician, some say, but chose to be a full-time homemaker and Mother. While raising her family she worked part-time at Rogers Market and eventually full-time as an Office Manager.
Judy loved her family and friends with ferocity and was giving to a fault, never afraid to vocalize anything she thought someone needed to hear, especially if that someone was her daughters or grandchildren. She was the BEST Mother, Grandma and Great Grandma and all of them would say she was "their person". They were her treasures, and she was theirs as well. She loved to be surrounded by family and never ran out of love to share. Judy was the 10th child of a family of 11 and the baby girl of the family. She could talk for hours of how blessed she was to have been a part of a huge family and was so proud of them all. She was an Aunt to many and loved them fiercely as her own.
She is survived by her daughters Lisa (Steve) Jaske, Melissa (Rick) Turner and Marcy Thompson as well as her grandchildren Allyson (Anthony) Schliep, Katelyn (Charlie) Larson, Sarah Fraggis, David Jaske, Matthew Jaske, Jennifer Jaske, Olivia (CJ) Turner, Madison Turner and Sam (Laylay) Turner and 14 beloved great grandkids, her sisters-in-law, Dorothy and Betty Thomas and Maxine Thompson.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband and was the last surviving of her 11 siblings: Eileen (Ray) Matthews, Kathleen (Ralph) Anson, June (Dwight) Ramsey, Billy Thomas, Hargis Earl Thomas, Larry (Janet) Thomas, Paul Thomas, Lyndal (Michael) Sprinkle, Jerry (Ann) Thomas and Jim Thomas. Also preceded in death by brothers in law, Bob (Betty), Ray and Kenny Thompson, sister-in-law Barb (Chuck) Forman.
