Kay A. (Witwer) Winter, 64, of Amarillo, Texas died on Wednesday, July 31, 2024 at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus, Aurora, Colorado. The Fort Wayne native graduated from R. Nelson Snider High School in 1978 and worked for the Allen County Public Library for 20 years. She worked at the Georgetown Branch Library and ended her career at the Little Turtle Branch Library as a Children’s Specialist. She left the library in 1996 after marrying her soul mate, Kirby Winter, and moving to Aurora, Illinois. She has lived in many places, Aurora, Illinois, Lexington, Kentucky, Sellersburg, Indiana, and currently in Amarillo, Texas, making good friends everywhere she lived. She took great pride and joy in raising her two children, Callie and Corey, and her stepson, Jacob. She was a great cook, loved to crochet baby blankets and enjoyed sharing her baked goods with friends and family. Surviving are her husband, Kirby; her daughter, Callie (Lance Setliff) Winter of Denver, Colorado; her son, Corey of Amarillo, Texas; her step-son, Jacob Winter of Moline, Illinois; her sister, Kathryn Witwer of Fort Wayne, Indiana; her brothers, Keith (Beverly) Witwer of Markle, Indiana and Kyle (Kim) Witwer of Fort Wayne. She is also survived by her four nieces whom she loved and cherished. Her parents, Richard and Janice (Stabler) Witwer preceded her in death. A Celebration of Life will be held from 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm on Friday, September 13, 2024 at Greenlawn Funeral Home, 6750 Covington Road, Fort Wayne.
