Larry R. Brown Sr. 83, passed away January 28, 2025, in Fort Wayne, IN. He was born November 29, 1941, in Portland, IN. the son of late Donald E. and Berniece Brown (neé Meloy). Larry graduated from South Whitley High School in 1960. He proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1960-1964. On October 30, 1965, he was united in marriage to Connie J. Nicolet in Fort Wayne, IN.
Larry retired from the maintenance department at Slater Steel in 2003 after 38 years of dedicated service. He held an Indiana State Plumbers license, was a Real Estate Broker and held a Millwright Local #1029 card.
His memberships included, Churubusco VFW # 3846; Columbia City American Legion Post #98; Columbia City Masonic Lodge 189, Past Master and Secretary of the Eel River Lodge # 510, Fort Wayne Scottish Rite and Mizpah Shrine, Past President of the Whitley County Shrine Club, Past President of the Shrine Dune Patrol and the Antique Power Club.
Larry is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Connie J. Brown of Columbia City, IN; sons, Larry R. Brown Jr. of Fort Wayne, IN and Todd A. (Noney) Brown of Las Vegas, NV; sister, Linda Schannep of South Whitley, IN; and grandchildren, Cameron Brown and Austin and wife, Skyla Brown both of Fort Wayne, IN; great-grandson, Oakley; nieces, Melissa and Laura; and nephews, Justin, Phil, and Randy.
A Masonic Lodge and Mizpah Shrine Service will be held at 3:00 pm, Sunday ,February 2, 2025, at D.O McComb and Sons Funeral Homes, Lakeside Park, 1140 Lake Ave., Fort Wayne, IN with visitation two hours prior. Private Entombment at Lindenwood Cemetery.
