Laverne Elizabeth (Spuhler) Scovill,102, passed away peacefully at her residence in Naples, Florida on Saturday, January 11, 2025. She was born on January 7, 1923, to the late Grant and Lilly-Belle Michelfelder. Laverne spent most of her younger years in Fort Wayne, Indiana. She graduated from South Side High School in 1941. Her working career included jobs at Eckrich and the former Baer Field Airport. Laverne was active in many organizations including a past queen of Teti Sheri Temple No.60 of the Daughters of the Nile. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star as well as an active member of Bethany Presbyterian Church. Laverne is survived by her daughter, Judy Meade of Van Wert, Ohio; Bob (Linda) Spuhler of Hudson, Wisconsin and Cherie Mault of Fort Wayne, Indiana. Laverne was blessed with five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Also surviving are Curtis (Linda) Scovill, Ann (Charles) Scovill Wright, Marian Scovill Raney, Sarah Scovill and a large extended family. She was also preceded in passing by Ron Meade, Bob Mault, and David Raney. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, January 18, 2025 at Klaehn, Fahl & Melton Funeral Home, 6424 Winchester Road, Fort Wayne, Indiana 46819 with visitation one hour prior. Burial to follow the service at Lindenwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Avow Hospice, www.avowcare.org.
