

Leonard M. Goldstein passed away April 20 in Carmel, Indiana at the age of 97. Len was born in Cleveland, Ohio, September 27, 1920, to Rose and Mitchell Goldstein. He graduated from Ohio State University, and soon moved to Fort Wayne, where he lived with his wife Rikki for the next 71 years. He worked in export management, spending the bulk of his career with the company he founded, Midland, Inc. Len’s civic engagement occupied him until a few weeks before his death, including serving on the boards of local arts organizations, civil and constitutional rights groups, community physical and mental health providers, and institutions devoted to Jewish community life. He also served a term as president of the Fort Wayne Community Schools Board. A passionate advocate of fairness and justice, as well as his views on how to achieve them, he was a frequent contributor to the OpEd page of the Fort Wayne newspapers. Len is survived by his wife Rikki, his children Michael, Steven, Jan Goldstein and Lisa Post, and his grandchildren Ben and Jon Barefoot; Amanda and Anya Goldstein; and Cort, Arlee, Zach, and Kailee Post, several great-grandchildren and a sister Marianne Wheeler of Tucson, AZ. Services will be at the Achduth Vesholom Temple, 5200 Old Mill Road, Monday, April 23, at 10:30 a.m. with a visitation one hour prior. Burial ceremony at Lindenwood Cemetery, well-wishers are invited to a luncheon gathering back at the Temple. Arrangements by D.O. McComb and Sons Foster Park Funeral Home, Fort Wayne, IN.
