

Leta Marilyn Gilbert, 82, passed away April 5, 2023, at the Englewood Health and Rehabilitation in Fort Wayne, IN. She was born September 2, 1940, in Greenville, Tennessee the daughter of Roy and Ada Goodson. Leta was raised in Fort Wayne and graduated from Central High School in 1959. She worked and retired at General Electric from 1965-1980.
She was the owner and operator of Solar Sudser Laundromat on Broadway, Gilbert Dry Cleaning and Laundry on Bluffton Road, and the Roanoke Laundromat.
Leta enjoyed cooking for others and wouldn’t let anyone leave hungry or without taking food home. She had a sweet tooth, especially when it came to her DeBrand Chocolates. Leta was known for having a green thumb and could make any plant thrive. Her hobbies included, bargain shopping, thrifting and garage sales, playing Backgammon and various card games, traveling to the casinos and enjoying an occasional Rum and Coke.
She is survived by her sons Gary (Jill) Brigman, Craig Brigman both of Fort Wayne, IN; grandchildren, Paige (Andy) King, Bailey (Josue) Julio; great grandchildren, Mason King, Sol and Elin Julio; sister-in-law, Sharon Goodson; nieces, Debbie Parker, Dawn (Neal) Harper; nephews, David (Laurie Stein) Goodson, Scott (Becky) Sides and Wesley Sides.
Leta was preceded in death by her loving husband, Ray Gilbert, parents, brother, Henry “Hank” Goodson, sister and brother-in-law, Viena and Steve Sides and a nephew Russell Sides.
Funeral Service will be 1:30 pm Friday, April 14, 2023, at D.O. McComb and Sons Lakeside Park Funeral Home 1140 Lake Ave. Fort Wayne, IN, with visitation one hour prior. Visitation also 2-4 and 6-8 pm Thursday April 13, 2023, at the funeral home. Burial in Lindenwood Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Blue Jacket of Fort Wayne.
