Linda “Lindy” Lantz Noll passed away on Thursday, October 28, 2021 from the ravaging effects of dementia and head injuries resulting from a fall. She had been a resident of Kingston at Dupont Memory Care Center since March, 2021.
Lindy was born September 25, 1949 in St. Joseph’s Hospital in Fort Wayne, to Jesse Ashenfelter Lantz and Paul K. Lantz. She grew up in Fort Wayne, graduated from North Side High School in 1967, and Indiana University, with her BS in Elementary Education in 1971. Lindy earned her Master of Science in Elementary Education from Indiana University in 1975. She had a rewarding teaching career with the Fort Wayne Community Schools, having taught kindergarten at Price Elementary, and second grade at Washington Center Elementary. Lindy was united in marriage to Michael Noll on June 30, 1973. According to Michael, it was love at first sight when Lindy showed up on his doorstep in July, 1970, and wondered whether he would subscribe to the Journal Gazette, which she delivered. After dating for two years, they eloped, and were married in the back of a grocery store in Roanoke, Indiana, by Justice of the Peace Robert Simmons. She was very proud of their marriage of 48 years. Lindy and Michael have one son, Thomas Michael Noll of Chicago, Illinois. She was very active in the PTA while Tom was in school, having been the PTA president at Shambaugh Elementary and Northwood Middle School. She is a lifetime member of the Indiana PTA. Lindy loved anything to do with nature and animals. She enjoyed the trails along the St. Joe River, having grown up on its banks. She and Michael also enjoyed many plays at the Fort Wayne Civic Theatre. Surviving Lindy are her husband, son, and two nephews, Steve and David Lantz. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Larry Lantz, nephew, Scott Lantz, and parents-in-law, LaVera and Dawson Noll.
We would like to especially thank the entire staff at Kingston at Dupont for their professional and compassionate care, as well as the Heartland Hospice Team who provided much care and comfort to Lindy, Michael, and Tom in Lindy’s final days. Memorial donation in Lindy's honor may be made to Fort Wayne Animal Care and Control or to the Alzheimer’s Association.
A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00pm on Saturday, November 6, 2021 at D.O. McComb and Sons Pine Valley Park Funeral Home (1320 East Dupont Road, Fort Wayne), with calling from 11:00 am, until time of service, Pastor James Conn officiating. Private burial will take place in Circle Cemetery, near Hudson, Indiana, at a later time.
