A Fort Wayne native, Lydia was a homemaker, painter and seamstress. She is survived by three sons, Stephen J. Kumfer of Wolcottville, Bradley L. (Rose) Kumfer of Kendallville, Patrick A. (Amy) Kumfer of Wolcottville; one daughter, Penny M. (William) Gorman of Wolcottville; nine grandchildren; 24 great- grandchildren, and she recently became aware of the 25th due in September. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alva Stephen Kumfer, and three grandchildren. She lived a long, spirited life and enjoyed her family.
A Mass of Christian Burial to honor Lydia's memory will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 26, 2022, at Queen of Angels Catholic Church, 1500 W. State Blvd., Fort Wayne (IN 46808). Calling will take place from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, April 25, 2022, at D.O. McComb & Sons Covington Knolls Funeral Home, 8325 Covington Road, Fort Wayne (IN 46804). She will be laid to rest at Covington Memorial Gardens.
