LYLE JOHNS, 91, of Fort Wayne, died on Tuesday, March 8, 2011, at Coventry Meadows. Born March 6, 1920, in Bloomington, Ill., he was the son of the late Robert Owen Johns and Ina Belle (Higgs). He served in the U.S. Navy and had worked for G.E., retiring after 38 years of service in 1982. He was a member of G.E. Golf League. Surviving are his wife, Helen I. Johns; son, Keith (Kris) Johns; daughter, Betty (David) Brayton and Eileen (Dave) Platz; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild. Funeral service is 1 p.m. Saturday at C.M. Sloan & Sons Funeral Home, 1327 N. Wells St., with calling one hour prior. Calling also from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial in Prairie Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, preferred memorials to the family.
