

Lucille Woods departed this earth on October 14, 2025, in Hendersonville, Tennessee. She was born March 8, 1944, in Atalla, Alabama, the eldest of six children born to the late Lula D. and Walter J. Paige.
Lucille went to Central High School in Fort Wayne and graduated in 1962. She went on to Indiana Business School where she gained the skills of shorthand and dictation. Lucille worked as a secretary for the Fort Wayne Urban League and was later hired by General Electric (GE), where she worked in the engineering department until 1990.
Lucille was married to Johnny I. Woods for 40 years. She accepted Christ into her life at an early age and was a member of Pilgrim Baptist Church, under the leadership of the late Rev. John Dixie. She had a love for quilting and crocheting; but nothing topped her love for family, music and a good time. She loved to sing and attend voice classes and passionately sang karaoke when the occasions arose to do so.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory; husband, Johnny I. Woods; daughter, Sonia Thomas; stepdaughter, Shareeah Woods; sister, Evelyn Williams; brothers, James Paige Sr., Walter Paige, and Edward Paige Sr.; five grandchildren: Greg Moore, Anjelica Cotton, Paris Roman, Saundra Roman, and Tahir Maduka; 19 great-grandchildren; special friends, Bill Hester, Michael Finch, Angela Lee, Ardes Peaster, Suzanne Brightman, T.J. Hughes, and Lucille Murray; and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lula and Walter Paige; sister, Olivia Ervin; and grandson, Aric “Fats” Moore.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at D.O. McComb and Sons Lakeside Park Funeral Home, 1140 Lake Avenue, Fort Wayne, with visitation 2 hours prior. The committal service and burial will be at 2:00 pm on Monday, October 27, 2025, at Covington Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 8408 Covington Road, Fort Wayne.
