Marian Bernice Rasmussen

Marian B. Rasmussen, 92, of Fort Wayne, IN died on Saturday, January 29, 2022 at the home of her daughter, Becky Lane, and son-in-law, Stephen Lane. Marian had lived and been cared for at their home for the past six years. Marian was born in Lanark, IL on December 27, 1929, the daughter of George B. and Elsie F. (Klenz) Crofton. She attended Lanark High School, graduating with the class of 1947. Marian later received her Bachelor’s Degree from Carthage College in Carthage, IL. Marian was united in marriage with Peter Rasmussen on August 12, 1951, in Lanark. Marian served the Lord her entire life. She and her husband were called to serve the Lord in Japan for 40 years. They learned to walk with the people and to understand/speak the Japanese language and culture. While they were in Japan, they served in Nagasaki prefecture, Kyoto and Takamatsu. She enjoyed spending time with her family and never forgot a birthday or anniversary. She had a passion for worshipping and playing the organ or piano for whatever was the local church at the time. After they retired in Lanark, they were both active members of Trinity Lutheran Church. She liked to sing the old Christian hymns any time or day, and would listen to them daily as she was resting and relaxing in her final days. She and Pete laughed a lot together. Marian will be dearly missed by three daughters, Fern (Robert) Fiesthumel of Fort Collins, CO, Rebecca (Stephen) Lane of Fort Wayne, IN, and Kristina Rasmussen (Koichi Hidaka) of Miyazaki, Japan; three sons, Samuel (Helen) Rasmussen of New Canaan, CT, Andrew (Maital) Rasmussen of Los Altos, CA, and Jonathan Rasmussen of Okinawa, Japan; 20 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; one brother, Randall (Pat) Crofton of Oregon, IL, and one sister, Virginia (Howard) Helms of Mount Carroll, IL. Marian was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Peter Rasmussen; one sister, Marjorie; one brother, Robert; one daughter-in-law, Michi; and one grand-daughter, Praise.
