Obituary of Marilyn J. Slagle
Marilyn Joan Slagle, 93, died on Saturday, July 24, at Pine Valley Lutheran Life Village. She was born in Fort Wayne on Christmas morning in 1927 to parents Ralph and Alfreda Sutton. She graduated from Southside High School where she met Dean Slagle. They were married in 1948, for 66 years. They had four daughters. During the summers they took a lot of camping trips in Indiana and other states. They also spent many fun years at their home on Big Turkey Lake where they enjoyed swimming, boating and fishing with family and friends. Marilyn had worked at International Harvester, she was a baker in the F.W.C.S and also worked for Monsanto. Marilyn was very creative, often doing pencil sketches of people and places. She loved china painting and did several oil paintings for family. She was preceded in death by husband Dean and daughter Roselyn. She is survived by daughters Cynthia Newton of Fort Wayne, Jacquelyn Slagle of Fort Wayne, and Jill (Kevin) Shanahan of Texas. There are seven grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Service is 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 3, 2021, at Sloan and Sons Funeral Home, 1327 N. Wells St. in Fort Wayne, with visitation from 11:00-1:00 p.m. Burial in Eel River Cemetery.
