

MARILYN "MITZI" TOEPFER, 74, passed away Friday, March 13, 2015 at Heritage Park Health Care Center in Fort Wayne. Born in Sturgis Mich., Mitzi worked as the manager of McMillen Park Ice Arena for 45 years, retiring in 2006. She was an Indiana Representative for USA Hockey for over 30 years, awarded the Presidents Award from the Indiana State High School Hockey Association in 2004 and was inducted into the Indiana High School Hockey Hall of Fame in 2005. She also received a community service award from the Fort Wayne Sports Corp. in 2014. She also enjoyed golf as a player and an official in the Men's and Women's F.W. Golf Association and Mad Anthony's for many years, past board member of Fort Wayne Youth Hockey. Surviving are her daughters, Susan Matteson-Thomas of Fort Wayne and Jamie (Gary) Hall of South Bend; son, Bill (Rhonda) Berg of Fort Wayne; grandchildren, Melanie and Ryan Matteson, Julia Hall, Brooke and Graham Thomas; sister, Janet Reed of Mishawaka. She was preceded in death by her parents, Wayland and Goldie Spears; husband of 36 years, Harold Toepfer; infant son, William David Berg; son-in-law, Brad Matteson. Funeral Service is 11 a.m. Thursday, March 19, 2015 at County Line Church of God, 7716 CR 72 with calling one hour prior. Calling also from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 18, 2015 at D.O. McComb & Sons Pine Valley Park Funeral Home, 1320 East Dupont Road. Burial in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Fort Wayne, Ind. Memorials may be made to the Fraternal Order of Police (Kops for Kids) or Turnstone (sled hockey program).
