Marjorie Lorraine Barnes, age 93, of Fort Wayne, Indiana passed away peacefully with family at her side on Wednesday, November 8, 2023 at her home at Georgetowne Place. She was born in Anderson, Indiana on September 19, 1930 to the late Richard and Helen Plotner.
She moved to Fort Wayne early on and graduated from North Side High School in 1948. She met the love of her life, James Barnes and they were united in marriage on January 24, 1953 and together they created a beautiful family. Margie as she was known to many, had a lengthy career with GTE. She was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church and was active in many ways throughout the church and civic affairs. She was an avid card player and enjoyed dancing, traveling and spending time at the lake with her family and friends.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, James, and daughter, Rebecca Hedges.
Her legacy of love and many memories are left to her daughter, Lisa Paske, and her son, Jim Barnes; and to her 7 grandchildren: Breanne (Jason) Hedges, Matthew (Nicole) Hedges, Anthony (Allie) Paske, Kara Paske, Devynn Barnes, Saxton Barnes, Hailey Barnes; her brother, Richard (Diane) Plotner; 6 great-grandchildren and friends.
A Celebration of Margie's Life will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, November 15, 2023 at D.O.McComb and Sons Funeral Homes - Maplewood Park, 4017 Maplecrest Road (46815) with visitation an hour prior to services. Visitation also on Tuesday, November 14, 2023 at the funeral home from 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM.
