Mary Ellen Osborn

MARY ELLEN (WASS) (BARRETT) OSBORN, 75, a life-long resident of Fort Wayne, Indiana, peacefully passed away on September 8, 2016, at Kingston at Dupont Memory Care Center in Fort Wayne. She was born on November 23, 1940, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, and was the daughter of the late Donald and Margaret (Crosbie) Wass. Mary Ellen graduated from Central High School in 1958. She was a life-long member of First Wayne Street United Methodist Church. For 30 years she was employed by the office of Jean W. Spear, DDS, retiring in 1985. Mary Ellen lived life to the fullest and rarely sat idle. She had numerous hobbies/passions in life, including her love of gardening, sewing, cooking, cross-stitching, quilting, knitting, reading, and travelling. However, spending time with her family was her greatest joy in life.

Those still celebrating her life today are her beloved and devoted husband, Clarence D. Osborn of Fort Wayne; sister Nancy (Kenneth) Robertson of Blacksburg, Virginia; brother Herbert (Dorothy) Wass of Topsfield, Massachusetts; her loving daughters Debra Barrett (David) Bengel of Fort Wayne; Sara Barrett (John) Twomey of Novi, Michigan; Elizabeth Barrett (Matthew) Doehrman of Fort Wayne; and step-daughter Rhonda Osborn (Michael) Loje of Lakewood, Ohio. She is also survived by eight grandchildren: Nicholas Bengel, Spencer Bengel, Jack Twomey, Erin Twomey, Ryan Twomey, Benjamin Doehrman, Megan Doehrman and Mollie Doehrman.

The family wants to thank both Kingston at Dupont Memory Center and Heartland Hospice for their wonderful care of our beloved mother.

The funeral service will be officiated by Pastor Thomas Eggold. Calling is from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Klaehn, Fahl & Melton Funeral Home, 6424 Winchester Road, Fort Wayne, Indiana, with the funeral service to be held immediately following. Burial will be at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 6600 Covington Road, Fort Wayne, Indiana. Preferred memorials are to Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Fort Wayne, Indiana.
