Mary L. Gardner
24 August, 1923 – 5 October, 2020
IN THE CARE OF
C.M. Sloan & Sons Funeral Home
Mary L Gardner, 97, of Ossian, passed away on October 5, 2020. Born on August 24, 1923, in Eldorado, Illinois, she was a daughter of the late Grover and Fannie Armstrong.
Mary was a warm hearted woman with a giving soul. She would give as much as she could to help someone in need. If you ever happen to stop by for a visit, she didn’t hesitate to whip up a good meal, and spend quality time together. Mary told extraordinary stories that made you feel as if you were there. Poor Mary was the comedian of the family, constantly cracking jokes, and providing amusing memories to cherish. She was always up for a good game of Yahtzee or Scrabble, with a cup of coffee. Mary was best known as Granny, a treasured title, earned by three generations, of grand, great-grand, and great-great-grandchildren. Granny will be dearly missed, but she’ll live on in our hearts, and unforgettable memories.
She is survived by her son, Edward Gardner; brother, Donald Armstrong; grandchildren, Mike Gardner, Brian (Jill) Gardner, Lawrence Mascho, and Casey Gardner; great-grandchildren, Jessica (Justin) Graves, Aaron (Megan) Gardner, Justin Gardner, Harlee (Anthony) Crossgrove, and Travis Gardner; and great-great-grandchildren, Lucas Graves, Eli Gardner, and Cora Crossgrove. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Betty Foster; brothers; Andrew, Joseph, Cecil, Herbert, James, Richard, David, and Ronald Armstrong; sisters, Emily Smiddy, Georgia Sams, and Ruth Hargis; grandsons, Edward Gardner II, and Steven Mascho; and granddaughter, Kimberly Gardner.
Funeral service will be 1:30pm, Monday, October 12, 2020, at C.M. Sloan and Sons Funeral Home, 1327 North Wells Street, Fort Wayne, with calling one hour prior. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Fort Wayne. Memorial donations may be given to the family.
