Mary E Hampshire

Mary Ellen Hampshire, 85, passed away Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at Miller's at Oak Pointe in Columbia City. Born in Adams County, Indiana, Mary was the daughter of the late John and Laura Boice. She graduated from Geneva High School class of 1949. In her teenage years, Mary worked for her local veterinarian in Geneva. She would often reminisce over her time there. Mary worked for US Rubber for close to 10 years prior to going to General Electric where she worked for 32 years, retiring in 1991. She was a member of the GE Quarter Century Club, Elex Elpar, and TOPS. Mary enjoyed camping, fishing, gardening, traveling, crocheting, and spending time with her family. Surviving are her husband, John W. Hampshire of Columbia City; sons, Louis Raymond (Lana) Lee of Fremont, Jerry W. (Janeen) Lee of Battle Creek, MI; step-daughter, Debra Clevenger of Rochester; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren, and sister, Joyce Caetta of Alkron, OH. Mary was preceded in death by her step-son, Johnny W. Hampshire; grandson, Brian Lee; siblings, George Boice, sister, Evealeen Walker, Dorothy Palmieri, and Elaine Peterson. Service is 2:00 pm, Monday, March 6, 2017 at D.O. McComb & Sons Covington Knolls Funeral Home, 8325 Covington Road with calling one hour prior. Calling at the funeral home Sunday, March 5, 2017, 2:00 pm - 6:00 pm. Burial in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Fort Wayne, Indiana.
