

Mary E. Nelson-Jeffries, age 52 years young, passed away on Monday, March 14, 2022 at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne, following a short illness. Mary was the eighth child born to Ms. Susianna Nelson, on August 18, 1969, in Newbern, Alabama. Mary was a graduate of Sunshine High School in Newbern. After graduating, Mary would meet the love of her life, Mr. Marlon Jeffries. They would marry on September 01, 1997 in Alabama. Together, they would eventually move to the Fort Wayne area and raise their twin sons, Calvin and Kelvin Nelson. Mary loved her children, especially her four living grandchildren, as well as the rest of her family. Her family agreed that Mary was a good person, who will always be remembered as the best, at grilling BBQ. She was also a huge fan of the Alabama Crimson Tide...ROLL TIDE!! Mary enjoyed helping others; she worked six years as a home healthcare aide. "She [Mary] was a trooper," said her sister Leomia, when asked how Mary reacted to her recent cancer diagnosis. She stayed strong and positive through her battle.
Mary is survived by her loving husband, Marlon Jeffries of Fort Wayne.
Her twin sons, Calvin(Courtney) Nelson and Kelvin Nelson, all of Fort Wayne.
Four grandchildren.

Mary's mother-in-law, Viola Jeffries; father-in-law, Joseph (Charlene) Vaughn of Ohio.
Brothers-in-law, Joseph Vaughn, Jr., of Ohio, and Vincent Ward of Florida.
Sisters-in-law, Gayla Jeffries, Claudiette Jeffries, Dytrica Jeffries and Doris Jeffries, all of Ohio.
One aunt, Ms. Geraldean Weatherspoon, along with many nieces and nephews.
Mary was preceded in death by both her grandson, Delonte J. Nelson, and her mother, Susianna Nelson.
A funeral service for Mary will be held Friday, March 25, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Advantage Funeral & Cremation Services – Mungovan, 2114 South Calhoun Street, Fort Wayne, IN 46802. There will be no visitation for the public. Master of ceremony will be Mr. Lynn Vann.
