

MARY H. SPICE, 94, of Fort Wayne, died on Tuesday, May 14, 2013, 11:21 p.m., at her residence. Born Dec. 10, 1918, in Fort Wayne, she was a daughter of the late Guy P. Drewett and Mahala (Schrofe). She was a seamstress for Historic Fort Wayne, retiring in 1990. She volunteered at the Trinity United Methodist Church Food Bank; was a member of the church sewing guild; volunteered at the Civic Theatre sewing costumes; volunteered for Historical Fort Wayne as an interpreter; and an avid gardner who loved her flowers and loved to knit. Suviving are her daughter, Rebecca A. Spice of Cookville, Tenn.; sons, George (Sandra) Spice of Evansville, Thomas G. Spice of Woodridge, Va. and Michael G. (Marie) Spice of Waltam, Mass.; beloved friend, Marilyn McNally; sisters, Roaseanna Alexander of San Jose, Calif., Charlotte Drewett of Oahatchie, Ala., Janette Meyers and Nancy Anspach, both of Fort Wayne; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her husband, George Spice. Funeral service is 10 am. Saturday, May 18, 2013, at C.M. Sloan & Sons Funeral Home, 1327 N. Wells St. Calling is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 17, 2013, at the funeral home. Burial in Eel River Cemetery. Preferred memorials to the Fort Wayne Botanical Gardens.
