Michael John Popovich

Michael John Popovich, 74, passed away on September 6, 2020. He was born in Gary, IN on July 25, 1946, the son of the late Mark and Anne Popovich. Michael grew up in Chesterton, IN along with his older brother, Mark. He served for four years in the U.S. Air Force as a weather observer, and graduated from Purdue University with a degree in electrical engineering technology. Michael worked at Bowmar and ITT and retired from GTE/Verizon after a long career in electronics repair. He worked hard, loved deeply, and cared selflessly; he was a great father, loving grandfather, and the first to lend a hand whenever his family or friends needed help. Michael is survived by his two sons, Matthew Popovich of Fort Wayne and Jonathan (Shana) Popovich of Honolulu, HI; and his beloved grandchildren, Lilia, Annelise and Declan Popovich. Also surviving are his best friend, Donna Randolph, and his former wife, Mary Popovich Gerding. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother.
