Obituary of Michael Paul Reiling
Michael P Reiling, 81, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, passed away peacefully on May 10th at Parkview Hospice. Mike was a lifelong resident of Fort Wayne, born on August 28, 1942, to the late Paul and Betty (Miller) Reiling. Mike graduated from New Haven High School, class of 1960 and worked at Wayne Candies from 1964 until the candy factory closed in 1995. He spent most of his life collecting and working on classic cars. His "baby" was his 1965 Ford Galaxy 500 Convertible that he purchased brand new on November 24, 1965, from Delagrange Ford, New Haven, IN.- The convertible was kept in the garage, driven only short distances, which accounts for 6,003 original miles. Mike also enjoyed playing cards, collecting die-cast model cars, and was an avid NASCAR fan, visiting several racetracks across the country. Mike is survived by his wife, Mary Ann; son, Brad Reiling of Fort Wayne; daughter, Brandee (Derek) Garcia of Jeffersonville, IN; brother, Gregg Reiling; brother -in-law, John Hill; grandchildren, Samwise and Cora Garcia; nephew, Jarrod Deaton; niece, Tiffany Schult; and stepchildren, Ruth Roe and Robert Hibler; step grandchildren, Thomas Roe, Jessica Roe; and step great granddaughter, Sophia Roe. Lifelong friends, Cheryl Reiling and the Odem family. Mike was preceded in death by his sister, Susan Deaton Warner. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the Parkview Hospice nurses who gave Mike excellent care. Visitation will be on Thursday, May 16th from 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM and one hour before the funeral at 11:00 AM on Friday, May 17th, at C.M. Sloan & Sons Funeral Home, 1327 N Wells St, Fort Wayne. Entombment will be in the Catholic Cemetery. Contributions in Michael's memory may be made to Parkview Home Health & Hospice, 1900 Carew Street, Unit 6, Fort Wayne, Indiana 46805.
