MICHAEL EDWARD SMITH, 70, of Fort Wayne, passed away on Sunday, April 22nd at his home. He was born on October 28, 1941. He was a lifelong farmer and worked at International Harvester for 44 years before retiring in 2004 and was a member at Saint Aloysius Catholic Church. Surviving family include his wife of 41 years, Janet (Schultz) of Fort Wayne; three siblings, Jerry, John and Joyce Freiburger; four children, Anna Marie, Rhonda, Randy and Rachel; and two grandchildren, Olivia and Ruthie Hudson.
He was preceded in passing by his parents, Clarence Leo “Hank” and Mary Alice (Roy); and a brother, Dan. Mass of Christian Burial is 11:00 am Thursday at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, 14623 Bluffton Rd. with prayers at 10:30 am at Klaehn, Fahl and Melton Funeral Home, Winchester Rd. Chapel, 6424 Winchester Rd. Visitation is 2-5 and 7-9 pm Wednesday at the funeral home with a rosary recited at 4:30 pm.
