She was known to all as Nan and was the wife of an Air Force career veteran. She enjoyed learning the history and culture of the places they traveled. She especially loved discovering new foods as she never met a food she didn’t like.
After her family was established in Fort Wayne, she joined Girl Scout Troop 480 as one of the Troop leaders. This troop had quite an adventurous spirit, and she thrived by pushing her personal boundaries. Nancy had a natural gift of acceptance for all and before long she was everyone’s mom. She discovered she was quite competitive. She became an ardent bowler, loved a good round of golf and would gladly accept a rousing game of euchre, convinced she would be the winner (and usually was). She was a skilled cruciverbalist and enjoyed completing crossword puzzles daily.
Nancy loved her family and friends fiercely, absolutely enjoyed all the fun and let’s not forget the food, but what truly defined her was her faith. She had a wonderful, wonderful relationship with her Lord, Jesus Christ. She was always involved in her church activities and served on numerous committees and ministries. She fully embraced Acts 20:35, “it is more blessed to give than to receive.” Through the years, she supported her church and several charities. Nan was an avid reader and after retirement she would weekly visit local nursing homes and read to those who no longer could.
Nancy and her husband always marveled that the two of them produced more than a platoon of children. She enjoyed sending each of her children, grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren cards and gifts for birthdays and anniversaries. She was so grateful for their love and support.
Nancy always considered herself very blessed to be the big sister to her twin sisters (Charlene and Darlene), who she was always proud of and loved them beyond measure.
Nancy is survived by her children, stepson, Roger Peterson, Kathy Stringer, Karen Lunde (Tina), Debra Kilgore, Diane Bickford (Carl), Brenda Dickerson (John) and a very special daughter, Debbie Oetting; 17 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Lunde (2021); her parents, Charles and Catherine Kissinger; daughter-in-law, Bonnie; and son-in-law, Todd.
Visitation will be on Saturday, September 13, 2025, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm with a Funeral Service following at D.O. McComb and Sons Funeral Home - Covington Knolls, 8325 Covington Road, Fort Wayne, Indiana. She will be laid to rest at Covington Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to her favorite charity: Shriners Hospitals for Children or Abundant Life Church, Fort Wayne.
