Obituary of Nathaniel Toran
Nathaniel (Nate) Toran went home to the Lord on the 13th of June . Nate was born in Perth Amboy, New Jersey.  He grew up to be an all around athlete, but it was football that he excelled in.  After high school Nate was awarded a scholarship to Rutgers University where he played from 1973-1977. Nate was instrumental in Rutgers undefeated season where he still holds the record for the most sacks in a single season 52. He went on to play for the Philadelphia Eagles where an injury ended his career.  In the 1980’s Nate was inducted into the first class of the Rutgers Hall of Fame and the New Jersey Sports Writers Hall of Fame.  Nate was a life long learner. He studied the Martial  Arts and went on to earn his  Black Belt in Kempo Karate. He also earned 4 degrees from different colleges in New Jersey, New York and Indiana with his final one being an MBA from St. Francis University.  With all the accomplishments Nate achieved  his greatest joy was his family. He was the greatest husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle anybody could ever have. Nate retired from UTC in 2017 after spending 17 years at Carrier Corp. in Syracuse NY and 13 years at Utec in Huntington Indiana.  He is survived by his wife Jackie, son Nathaniel and daughter Marcy.  Three grandchildren Xavier, Molly and Lincoln, his sister Carolyn, brothers Melvin and Harvey and his 2 nieces and 4 nephews. In 66 years of life, his character, integrity, presence and love made an indelible mark on the hearts of all who knew and loved him. Visitation will be Sunday, June 21, 2020 from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm at D.O. McComb and Son's Covington Knolls Funeral home. The family request that you please wear a face mask when visiting.
