

Patricia Mae Adsit passed away peacefully in her sleep on February 13, 2025. She was born July 24, 1938, the daughter of Mary Mae Wamsley and Gaylord Dewitt Adsit. Tragically, mother, Mary Mae died that same day, and Patricia was reared by her second mother, Rebecca Halsey Adsit, and father, Gaylord Adsit. Patricia graduated from Milford Township High School, Milford, Illinois in 1956; Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri in 1958; and Michigan State University in East Lansing, Michigan in 1960. She taught in Fort Wayne Community Schools from 1960-1989 in the following elementary schools: Forest Park, Glenwood Park, Arlington Park and Weisser Park. Her students were considered by her to be true blessings. Service and philanthropy in Allen County was important to her. She volunteered in Chaplaincy at Parkview, at First Wayne Street United Methodist Church and later as a member of Plymouth Congregational Church. She served on the boards of Heartland Sings, The Fort Wayne Philharmonic, Fort Wayne Museum of Art, and SCAN. She will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by her chosen family, especially friends, Robert Nance and Marjorie Gamble; members of Heartland Sings; the PMA Foundation board; and her many students, colleagues and friends. She will be interred at Greenlawn Memorial Park. In lieu of a service, there will be a memorial concert on Sunday, March 30, 2025 at 4:00 p.m. at Plymouth Congregational Church, 501 W Berry Street, Fort Wayne. A gathering will be held at 3:00 p.m. in the fellowship hall prior and a reception will follow. The public is invited. Memorial gifts to Heartland Sings and the Patricia Mae Adsit Foundation.
