

Phyllis M. Klecka, 85, of Fort Wayne, IN passed away on December 27, 2018 at Heritage Park Retirement Community. She was born on May 27, 1933 in Fort Wayne, IN to Carl E. and E. Loveta (Clouse) Van Horn. Phyllis graduated from South Side High School in 1951. After high school, she worked at GenTel for a short period of time. She then went to work at G.C. Murphy & Company where she met the love of her life John J. Klecka Jr. They were married February 13, 1954 in Angola, IN. She was a homemaker, enjoyed doing crafting projects, knitting, and sewing. Phyllis also liked to paint by numbers, put together jigsaw puzzles, and raise house plants. She was a professionally trained vocalist and could play piano as well. Phyllis was the family genealogist and compiled information on several branches of the family over the years. Phyllis was also an original member of New Life Lutheran Church. Survivors include her, daughter, Cheryl D. (David W.) Jennings, son, Michael J. Klecka, grandchildren; Carmen, Lesley, Israel, and Micah Jennings, 4 great-grandchildren, all of Fort Wayne, and sister, Carol Cummings of Decatur, IN. Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter, Catherine E. Klecka, sister, Leila Ruth Van Horn, brother, Lyle C. Van Horn, and sister, Lucy Van Horn-Nelson. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 3, 2019 at 1:30pm with calling two hours prior from 11:30am-1:30pm at D.O. McComb and Sons Funeral Home Lakeside Park, 1140 Lake Ave, Fort Wayne, IN 46805. Burial will take place at Greenlawn Cemetery in Fort Wayne. Officiating the funeral service will be Pastor Mike Wakeland. Memorial donations may be directed to the New Life Lutheran Church, Allen Co. Cancer Society, Allen Co. SPCA, or to the Donor’s Choice.
