Obituary of Richard L. Anderson
Richard L. Anderson, “Andy” or “Dick”, 89 of Fort Wayne passed away Wednesday, June 6, 2012 after a courageous 17-year battle with cancer. He was born January 23, 1923 in Fort Wayne to Viola and Clarence Anderson, both who preceded him in death. In 1943 he married Mildred “Mimi” Smith. He served his country in World War II in the Navy. He was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church, Fort Wayne having served on the Board of Directors for 25 years. He retired in 1983 with 42 years of service with General Electric. He spent his winters vacationing in Florida. He was a 50-year member of the Maumee Lodge 725. He was a member of the Scottish Rite and the American Legion Post 499. He enjoyed fishing at Adams Lake. Surviving are his wife of 68 years, “Mimi” Anderson, son, James (Sandie) Anderson of Fort Wayne; daughter, Susan (Rex) Pranger of Adams Lake, one grandson, Dillon Pranger, two granddaughters, April Resor and Angie Tacker, two great-granddaughters Olivia and Bianca Tacker, one brother Robert Anderson, one sister Dorothy Kissinger and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters. Funeral service will be held Tuesday, June 12 at 1:00 p.m. with calling one hour prior at C.M. Sloan Funeral Home, 1327 Wells Street. Calling is from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, June 11 at the funeral home. Masonic services will be held at 7:30 p.m. Burial will be in Covington Memorial Gardens with military rites. A special thank you to Bill, Rae, Chris, Lori, Erin, Oji, Misty, Michele and Kristie for taking special care of him. In lieu of flowers, preferred memorial are to Parkview Home Health and Hospice, Fort Wayne or Grace Presbyterian Church.
