He was born July 3, 1937 in Kendallville, Indiana to the late Leo Johnston and Juanita (Reidenbach) Jemison. Richard graduated from Central High School in Fort Wayne in 1956 and served in the U.S Army 82nd Airborne Division. Richard was an engineer at International Harvest/Navistar and an engineer at General Motors in Pontiac, Michigan.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years Vernae; daughters Marcille Brock of Fort Wayne, Leslie (Kevin) Reynolds of Fort Wayne; grandchildren Justin (Adam Shelpman) Brock of Fort Wayne, Jasmine (Moises) Trevino of Chicago, IL, Alicia Reynolds of Fort Wayne; and brother Jerry (Theresa) Johnston of Westfield, IN.
Visitation will be held 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm with funeral to follow on Saturday, February 4, 2023 at Northpoint Community Church, Fort Wayne, IN, and will include military honors performed by Legion 47 of Fort Wayne.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to North Point Community Church or Fort Wayne Animal Care and Control.
