

Robert "Bob" A. Schisler, age 87, of Grabill, Indiana passed away at his family residence on Tuesday, August 29, 2023. He was born April 30, 1936 in Geneva, Indiana to the late George and Marjorie (née Steed) Schisler. Bob graduated from Geneva High School, Class of '54 and would letter in track and field as well as basketball and was a member of the National Honor Society. He married the love of his life, Sharon Stahly, and continued his education at the University of Indianapolis prior to transferring to Purdue University where he achieved a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering in 1961. Bob spent the majority of his professional career as a design engineer at Raytheon Technologies.
Bob was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying bow hunting and fishing, and creating his own fly fishing flies in his leisure time. In 1971, a love for bow hunting led to Bob becoming a co-founder of Blue-J, Inc., which published 'Bowhunter', a pioneering magazine dedicated solely to the sport. Bob enjoyed reading and had a particular fondness for westerns and spy novels. Bob also enthusiastically supported Purdue sports and loved watching and attending games.
Bob was a man of deep faith and devoted member of Covenant United Methodist Church. He possessed a commanding presence and conviction; strong, quiet, confident, respected and favored by family, friends, colleagues and strangers. Bob was a loving husband, great father, and loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren dearly.
Bob is survived by his loving and devoted wife of sixty-seven years, Sharon; children, Dennis (Lori) Schisler, Dawn (Dan) Slaten, Dana (Tom Habig) Clauss, and Diane Styhl; nine grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; siblings, Carolyn Sue Haines, Patricia Heign; Sally Thomas; and sister-in-law, Jan Stahly. He was preceded in death by son-in-law, Randy Styhl.
Funeral Service is 1:00 pm Monday, September 11, 2023, at D.O. McComb & Sons Funeral Homes - Pine Valley, 1320 East Dupont Road, Fort Wayne with calling two hours prior. Interment at Westlawn Cemetery, Geneva, Indiana. Memorials Contributions may be directed to Parkview Packnett Family Cancer Institute, Parkview Hospice or to donors' choice.
