Obituary of Roger Lee Hedrick
Roger Lee Hedrick, age 63, of Fort Wayne, IN, passed away on Tuesday, October 13, 2020. Roger was the son of the late Garland and Roma Hedrick and was born in Wolf Lake, IN. Roger graduated from Carroll High School and Indiana University receiving high honors from both. He achieved a national rating top one percent in mathematics in the SAT test as well as achieved a national rating top five percent in accounting in AICPA. His love was math. During his work career he was employed as an accountant for various companies. He enjoyed all sports, especially IU Basketball. When bowling he would throw his ball half way down the lane so hard that the pins would shake when the ball landed. Some would even fall before the bowling ball reached them. He enjoyed golfing, fishing and playing chess in which he was rated a champion player. Roger enjoyed spending time with his nephews, Ed Jr., and David. He taught them the strategy needed to win at chess in which both achieved to be champion players. Roger was a devoted man of God. With every breath he spoke, he lived his life the way he believed God wanted him to. He attended First Assembly of God Church in Fort Wayne and sang in the choir. He enjoyed singing and evangelizing on the streets, sharing the word of God and praying. Roger was a kind and gentle person, he was a loving brother. There are no words to express how we are feeling and thinking about Roger. We love him more than words can express. Thank you God, for giving us Roger as our brother. We only wish we had one more day to see his smile, to hear his laughter, and hear his voice. He will be sorely missed. His memory will give comfort and be a blessing to his family. A special thanks to the caregivers and nursing staff at Byron Wellness Community-Hart Cove. Also to John and Vicki Eakin, thank you for spending time with Roger and playing chess.
