

ROSE JOHNSTON, 100, passed away Monday, Nov. 20, 2017, in Fort Wayne. Born Oct. 30, 1917, in Detroit, Mich., she co-owned The Oyster Bar downtown Fort Wayne in the 1950's. Rose enjoyed sewing, cooking, and 18 holes of golf with her friends at Pine Valley Golf Course. For years she walked miles each day at Fort Myer's Beach. Her family always looked forward to going to Gran's on Sunday for her special Italian dinner. She will be greatly missed. Surviving are her son, Hugh (Mary Ellen) Johnston of Fort Wayne; grandchildren, Cindy Richards, Hugh (Pam) Johnston Jr., and Michael Johnston; great-grandchildren, Ryan Richards, Alycia (Wes) Timmerman, Dustin Johnston, and Nicholas Johnston; great-great-grandchildren, Lainey Richards and Rylee Timmerman. Rose was preceded in death by her husband, Hughie Johnston, in 2005; father, Peter Porreca; mother, Lena Porreca; and five siblings. Private service for family only.
