Ruth A. Longroy

Ruth attended Flint Technical High School and then attended Saginaw Lutheran Teachers College for a short time.

Ruth married Allan Longroy of Grand Blanc, Michigan, on December 26, 1955, before settling in Fort Wayne, Indiana in 1964, they lived in Flint and Ann Arbor, Michigan, as well as Watertown, Massachusetts.

Ruth was very creative. Cooking was her passion, and she was a member of the gourmet club. Ruth was a Girl Scout leader for several years and also enjoyed playing volleyball at the YMCA. In her spare time she liked sewing, reading, cross-stitching, writing poetry, and watching her flower gardens grow.

She worked at the Allen County Extension office for nineteen years, greeting the people, making many friends along the way, and editing and publishing a monthly newsletter for the Extension Homemakers.

Ruth is survived by her husband Allan; and three daughters, Kathy Longroy, Darla Baughman (Keith), Julie Snider; six grandchildren, Betsy Thomas (Sean), Katy Baughman, Molly Baughman, Sara Snider, Andrea Showman (Morgan), Nicholas Snider; and three great grandchildren, Miles Thomas, Hudson Thomas, and Ella Snider. Ruth took great joy in her family and her grandchildren, and enjoyed making memories with them.

Visitation will be from 5 pm to 8 pm on Tuesday, October 5, 2021 at D.O. McComb and Sons Maplewood Park Funeral Home, 4017 Maplecrest Rd., Ft Wayne, IN 46815.

Funeral service will be held at 11 am on Wednesday, October 6, 2021 at Epiphany Lutheran Church 6606 S. Maplecrest Rd, Ft. Wayne, In 46835 with calling one hour prior.
