Sherry Ann Lankford, 77, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, passed away on Sunday, February 9, 2025. Sherry was born June 2, 1947, in South Bend, Indiana, daughter to the late Francis and Juanita (Williams) Kirby. She attended school in Elkhart until her Senior year when she became a postulant at the St. Francis Convent at Mount Alverno, Mishawaka, IN. She ultimately left the convent because she wanted to start her own family. Sherry worked as a teacher throughout her life and loved lake life, enjoying the time that she spent with her family and friends. She was a Winnie the Pooh fan and loved spending time with her pets, Watson and Bones. Sherry is survived by her son, Josh (Deb) Lankford; grandson, Jacob Lankford; companion, Rick Momenee; fur baby, Bones; and her siblings, Mary Jo (Don) Locke, Phyllis Newkirk, Debbie Hofflander, Kristine (Dave) Van Zile, and Michael (Edna) Kirby; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Ray Lankford; daughter, Jessica Bryce Lankford; and brother, Patrick Kirby. Visitation for Sherry will be held Sunday, February 23, 2025 from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Klaehn, Fahl & Melton Funeral Home, 6424 Winchester Road, Fort Wayne, Indiana 46819, followed by a funeral service at 4:00 pm.
