Shirley Ann Melton

Shirley A. Melton, 72, passed away on Tuesday, October 30, 2018, at Visiting Nurse and Hospice Home in Fort Wayne. Born in Jamestown, Kentucky, Shirley was employed at Lincoln National Life Insurance Co. in Fort Wayne for 25 years, retiring in 2001. Shirley was a pillar of support to her husband Larry during their 40 years of marriage and was the epitome of a funeral director's wife. "She was a kind and generous woman, although when her black eyes started to flash everyone knew that the fun and games were over, especially her husband Larry. "She is survived by husband, Larry; son, Terry (Cindy) Helm; grandsons, Tyler and Cody Helm; and nieces, Susan and Kristen Watrous, all of Fort Wayne. She is also survived by nephew, Donnie (Sheila) Grider; grandnephew, Drew Grider; and grandniece Hannah Grider, all of Maryville, Tennessee. Shirley was preceded in death by her beloved brother, Donnie Grider, who died in September of 1980. Funeral service is 11 a.m. Monday, November 5, 2018, at Klaehn, Fahl & Melton Funeral Home, Winchester Road Chapel, with calling one hour prior to the service. Friends may also call from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, November 4, 2018, at the funeral home. Cremation will follow.
