Steven W. Hyndman

Steven W. Hyndman, 87, passed away peacefully on January 14, 2020 at home. A life long resident of Fort Wayne, he graduated South Side High School in 1950. Steven served in the Air National Guard at Baer Field and was drafted into the Air Force during the Koren War when he served in Sioux City, Iowa. His first job was McKay Electric and later he wired the City County Building and the Court House with Central Electric. Steven started his own business as the Chief Engineer at Allen County Electrical Company. Lastly he retired in 1995 as a commercial electrical inspector from the Allen County Building Department. He was a past Commander of American Legion Post 47. He is survived by his children; Sherry (Steve) Makowski, Rhonda (Allan) Herman, and S. Michael Hyndman; grandchildren, Betsy (Andy) Needler, Matt (Isabel) Makowski, Al Makowski, Fiona Makowski, Tad Makowski, Oriana Makowski, Brianne (Jake) Williams, Kirsten (Doug) Johnson; and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by parents, Harry and Gladys Hyndman; brother, Paul E. Hyndman; and sister, Marion J. Hyndman. Funeral service will be at 11am on Saturday, January 18, 2020 at D.O. McComb and Sons Maplewood Park Funeral Home, 4017 Maplecrest Road, Fort Wayne, IN 46815 with calling one hour prior. Burial will take place in Prairie Grove Cemetery, Fort Wayne, IN. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Boys and Girls Club of Fort Wayne, IN or American Legion Post 47, Fort Wayne, IN.
