Susan Archibald Stone

Susan Archibald Stone, 85, died on February 21, 2018, at Saint Anne Home. Born August 24, 1932, in Fort Wayne, she was the daughter of the late Robert Kenneth Archibald and Velma June (Harrod). A graduate of Central High School and Franklin College, she was a teacher, social worker, and journalist, and was retired from "The News~Sentinel". For many years she served as a reporter, feature writer, and food editor. She took a deep interest in news, reading newspapers and "Time" magazine cover to cover, and remained intellectually vibrant to the end of her life. She belonged to Fort Wayne Baptist Church, the American Association of University Women, and Psi Iota Xi, Pi Chapter. Survivors include her daughter, Amy (John) Beatty of Fort Wayne; grandchildren, Robert and Julia of Fort Wayne; and goddaughter, Martha May (Marshall) Gentry. Service is 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 3, 2018, at Trinity Episcopal Church, 611 West Berry Street, with calling from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Calling also from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, March 2, 2018, at Klaehn, Fahl, & Melton Funeral Home, 420 W. Wayne Street, Fort Wayne. Burial in Lindenwood Cemetery. Preferred memorials to Saint Anne Home or the Trinity Episcopal Spiritual Wreath Fund.
