Sybil La Gretta Brunson (Johnson Hermann Clarkson), age 67, was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana on July 25, 1957. She departed this life and entered eternal rest on January 1, 2025, at Coventry Meadows Nursing Home.
Sybil was the ninth child of the late Bernice and Parnell Johnson. She resided in Fort Wayne, Indiana where she graduated from Wayne High School. She later graduated from Indiana University Purdue University - Fort Wayne with a Bachelor of Science in Human Services.
Sybil was the baby of the bunch and loved her position of being the youngest. Sybil loved her family! She also really loved being a mother. The only thing more important to her was her role of grandma, even though she didn’t get to spend as much time with her grandchildren as she’d like.
Sybil’s only love after family was the church. She was a lifelong member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church. She was a dedicated member of the choir and loved using her voice to sing his praises.
She was a peaceful person, and her peaceful nature will be greatly missed. Sybil also had a great sense of humor. She loved to make others smile and laugh.
Sybil was preceded in death by her late husbands, Phanot Hermann, Randall Clarkson, and Walter Brunson; her parents, Bernice and Parnell Johnson; brothers, Frank Johnson, Glenn Johnson, and Edward Johnson; sisters, Cherry (David) Tinnin, Carroll [Cheryl] Brantley, Betty Johnson and Anita Johnson; and grandchildren, Christian, Cameron, and Da’Leia.
Sybil will live forever in the hearts of her three children, Darcell Hermann, Delilah (Najid) Johnson, and Dewey Clarkson; granddaughters, Aubrey Hairston and Ivy Johnson-Reeves; sisters, Marsha (William) Johnson Booker and Nancy Johnson along with a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins; and special friend, Debbie Jones.
Visitation will be held Saturday, January 18, 2025 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Shiloh Baptist Church, 2200 Covington Rd, Fort Wayne, IN 46802, followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 11:00 AM
