WAYNE V. YORK, 72, of Fort Wayne, died on Thursday, May 6, 2010, 2:12 p.m., at St. Joseph Hospital. Born Feb. 11, 1938, in Noble County, he work-ed as a painter at Lutheran Hospital for 29 years, retiring in 2006. He is survived by his wife, Betty York; daughters, Anna (Don) Fankhauser, Ronda York, Joann (John) Schindler, Barb (Bruce) Wilson, Jane (Brian) Weck and Laura (Jon) Custis; sisters, Betty Loveless, Doris Gose and Ruth Lamb; brothers, Logan (Esther), Lyle, Gary (Ruth), Jerry (Ruthie) and Dave (Connie); 18 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother, Claudia (McCoy) York; his son, Wayne York, Jr.; and his brothers, Charles York, Kenwood York and Keith York. Service is 1 p.m. Tuesday at C.M. Sloan & Sons Funeral Home, 1327 N. Wells Street, with calling one hour prior. Pastor Nick Parker officiating. Calling also from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial in Lindenwood Cemetery.
