William Robert Byers

W Robert (Bob) Byers, 90, of Ft Wayne died Sept 20 at the VA Hospital in Ft Wayne. He was a 1939 graduate of South Side High School. He served in the Army Air Corps in WWII, and flew the D-Day mission. He was an Insurance Agent for 42 years, founding Byers Insurance Agency. Bob was a long time little league coach, and avid Cubs fan. He was predeceased in death by his wife of 64 years, Donna Lou (Foutz) Byers. He is survived by five children: Bonnie Glass, Sally (Rodger) Fulton, Tim (Diane) Byers, Joe (Chris) Byers, and Kris (Rich) Porter: 14 grandchildren and 21 great grand children, two sisters: Barbara Parker and Linda Ryzenga and several nieces and nephews. An open house celebrating his life is being held on Sat Oct 8 from 2 to 4pm at the Park Place Club House on West Brook Drive, Ft Wayne.
