I was so sorry to hear this news. I met him at McDonald's on the South side this past fall where he asked if he could draw my picture. A charming conversationalist, he was very polite, and we talked about my job as an art teacher, politics, and the anticipated "Hurricane Sandy."
I will never forget the experience. 

My deepest condolences to his family and friends.

Willie was a sweet man that I first met the day he drew a picture of my twin boys. This was a present given to their father for their first fathers day. It still hangs on the wall of their bedroom. Willie always seemed to have a smile on his face. I will always remember him as a genuine soul. Very sorry for his loss

To the Fields family, Willie was a great man, great artist, and a gift to all of us who had lost faith in humanity. I will miss his smile, and his genuine heart felt insight into my life choices. He made me realize that the best way to keep my head up is to help someone else do the same. Without my talks with willie over pizza and wings over the years it's hard telling where i'd be. Thank you Willie!

A. Great man has been called by his heavenly father to come home. Willie you will forever be apart of my life. I will miss hearing your sweet voice sing.and I will charish the drawing of me you made the first time we met at the steel mill on Broadway. Peace be with you and blessed be.

I will miss hearing Willie sing karaoke.  My sympathy to his family and friends.  This is a loss that will be felt by many.
