

Willie Smith Sr. ,81, passed away on Tuesday September 9, 2014. He was born in Osceola, Arkansas to the late Will and Thelma Smith, moving with his family to Fort Wayne, Indiana in 1968. He retired from Omni Source after 30 years’ service. He was married to his wife Mildred Smith on May 14, 2012.
He came to Christ at an early age and was a member of Mount Calvary Missionary Baptist Church.
His most enjoyable times were spent with family. He loved fishing and hunting and had a great love for his dogs. He was a hero to his children and fought for them to get a good education, pushing them to be better than he was and to strive to be their best. He was a great father, husband, grandfather and friend
Surviving to cherish his memories are his wife Mildred Jackson Smith; children Willie (Lucille) Smith Jr., Eugene Smith, David Smith, George E. (Debra) Smith, Sarah (Ervin) Phillips, Betty Lapsley, and Inette Smith; Step daughter Shenori Reynolds; Sisters Erma (James) Chapman and Mary Washington; Special nieces and nephews Dorothy Davis, Joyce Ann Coldwell and Raymond Washington; 20 Grandchildren, 26 step-grandchildren and 32 Great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife Mearline Smith, step father Otis Brothers and step mother Gertrude Smith; niece Meta Marsh and a host of brother in-laws and sister in-laws
Services will be 12 noon Saturday September 13 with visitation from 11:00 until 12 noon at Mount Calvary Missionary Baptist Church 3506 Warsaw St.
